Youth arrested after melee

TWO youths wound up in hot water following a disturbance at Macauleys Headland car park in Coffs Harbour.

Detectives were patrolling the area at 4pm on Sunday and saw the 17-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl drinking grog.

The officers searched the pair and allegedly found the boy had a small amount of cannabis.

When they arrested him, the girl allegedly became abusive. The boy then allegedly punched police, broke free and ran into the water. The girl tried to free her friend and allegedly spat at police. They were both apprehended.

The boy was charged with two counts of resisting police, two counts of assaulting police and one count of stealing.
