Yellow door opens to reveal youth arts

PART art exhibition, part interactive workshop program and live art space, the Yellow Door Arts Festival promises to be a fun day.

To celebrate national Youth Week, the Yellow Doors Arts Festival at Coffs Harbour Showground will give young people the opportunity to take part in and experience the arts in all its different forms – painting, photography, dance, music, film, song writing, poetry and juggling.

There will also be information from lots of local youth support services available on the day, as well as a free barbecue. The event is being organised by headspace Coffs Harbour and has been sponsored by Coffs Harbour City Council, C.ex Group, Wesley Mission, Key Employment, Groundworks Youth Centre, PCYC, STARTTS and Mission Australia.

The idea and inspiration for the event came from Chelsea Adams, a member of the headspace Coffs Harbour HARG (Headspace Advisory Reference Group).

“I have personally experienced the positive effect art can have on someone’s life,” she said.

Yellow Door Arts Festival is on today from 10am to 4pm. More info from headspace Coffs Harbour on 6652 1878.
