Yacht runs aground

A SAILOR and his dog had an unexpected landing on the Coffs Coast on Saturday morning.

The man contacted Coffs Harbour water police when he was near Tuckers Rock, south of Bundagen, to say his 12-metre sloop was just outside the surf zone and was in danger of going onto the beach.

Water police were on their way to sea when they got another call to say the vessel had just run aground.

The sloop, which was en route to Coffs Harbour from Newcastle, sustained minor damage. The insurer was arranging for the vessel to be salvaged on a low-loader.
