Toilets in CBD 'woeful'
JAN Russell says the public toilets in Coffs Harbour’s CBD are woeful and the sooner they’re cleaned up the better.
The Korora local encountered a woman last week who was shocked when she entered a toilet in the Park Avenue car park.
“The smell practically knocked her out and they were in a disgusting state,” Mrs Russell said.
“They drove around to the Riding Lane (Castle Street car park) toilets and found they were worse.
“She said they had travelled all around Australia and the toilets in our town were the worst and filthiest she had ever encountered anywhere.”
Mrs Russell said she felt ashamed a visitor to our city had endured this experience.
“Unfortunately there are some people in our community who seem not to be able to use a public toilet in a clean, hygienic way and perhaps thought should be given to educate them as a start to the problem,” she said.
“The council should check the toilets and clean them several times throughout the day.”
A Coffs Harbour City Council spokeswoman said contractors cleaned the Park Avenue car park toilets three times a day and the Castle Street car park facilities once a day.
