Work starting on River Street

WORK on a $400,000 project to transform River Street into a quality gateway for Woolgoolga will begin in earnest next week.

“We postponed the work to resolve an access issue for a local business in River Street, but we can now move ahead with this long-awaited project,” Jason Gordon, Council's Director of City Services said.

An alternative access route to the rear of the premises has been agreed via the laneway from Scarborough Street, which has been upgraded to create a sealed, all-weather surface.

The work will begin in River Street on Monday, October 27, and is scheduled to be completed by late December 2008, weather permitting.

The focus of the revitalisation work will be the transformation of the central median strip in the street.
