Woods says Trump can belt a golf ball

GOLF: Tiger Woods admitted he was impressed with how far US President-elect Donald Trump can hit a golf ball at age 70 in a blog post detailing the late-December round the pair played.

Woods and Trump played at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida about three weeks after the former world No.1 made his return to professional golf following a 16-month layoff.

"What most impressed me was how far he hits the ball at 70 years old,” Woods said.

"He takes a pretty good lash.”

"Our discussion topics were wide ranging; it was fun.

"We both enjoyed the bantering, bickering and needling. I also shared my vision for golf and what I'm trying to do.

"We didn't have a match and played for fun.

"I was testing drivers and fairway woods and changed some settings. I think he enjoyed seeing the difference in shots when you experiment.”

Woods (pictured) is fairly used to playing a round with American leaders, having previously played alongside several political big names.

"I've now had the privilege of playing golf with Mr Trump, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama,” Woods said.

Woods is scheduled to make his 2017 debut at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego from January 26-29.
