Wood claims another victory

PARK Beach bowler Don Wood has led his team to victory in the final of the Mid North Coast district triples played at Woolgoolga Bowling Club.

Wood, who teamed up with lead John Bennett and second Peter Woodsell firstly had to survive a tough quarter-final against clubmate Cory Daley which was decided on an extra end.

The semi-final against Woolgoolga's Shane Dodd was a tight affair for most of the match before Wood's team gained the ascendancy over the latter stages winning 28-16.

In the final Wood played another Park Beach bowler Mark Menzies who had teamed with Rod Farmer and Josh McMaster to eliminate Bryan Cullen from Stuarts Point in the quarter-finals and another Park Beach team skipped by Quinton Dalrymple in the semi-finals.

The final saw Wood's team continue their excellent form to record a 28-14 victory over 25 ends.

First and second round matches in the district open, senior and reserve pairs competitions were completed on Sunday.

Park Beach have excellent depth in their club at present and should figure prominently in the open and senior pairs where they have three teams into the quarter-finals.

Competition will continue with quarter- and semi-final matches on Sunday with the various finals set down for Sunday, March 15.

The junior pairs at Park Beach is down to the final where junior singles finalists Corey Wedlock and Josh McMaster will face off again after easy wins in their respective semi-finals.

Open pairs at West Coffs: Kent Price (CEXS) v Shaun Wilson (WC), Stuart Hartigan (WC) v Geoff Beattie (NH), Craig Kelly (NH) v A Carver (PB), Don Wood (PB) v Cory Daley (PB).

Reserve pairs at Bellingen: Tom Blow (PB) v Rex Sharkey (Bell), Steve Glyde (Bell) v Geoff Morrin (U), Hans Katala (Wool) v Russ Lincoln (WC), Bryan Ingle (Bell) v Peter Hocker (CEXS).
