Women to Rudd: It's our choice

COFFS Harbour women are invited to join a rally to remind Kevin Rudd that childbirth decisions belong with them and not him.

Today, from 11am, the rally will be held in front of Luke Hartsuyker’s office in Little Street.

Joining together from many different organisations, supported by mybirth.com.au, Australian women have a clear message for the government – ‘My Body, My Baby, My Right to Decide’.

“We won’t be denied our rights as birthing women,” local rally organiser Jessica Nash said.

“Personally I think women have been doing this for millions of years with or without doctors.”

Maternity reform was one of the first announcements made by the Rudd Government. It is a signficant issue given maternity stays account for the highest number of long-duration bedstays in Australian hospitals.

Today’s rally will be at 39 Little Street.
