Women pipped in a nailbiter

THE North Coast Women's team came agonisingly close to a claiming a maiden rep victory in just their second ever match.

Up against the North West Women's team the coast side went down by a point.

Naomi Morrison opened the scoring with a behind in a game where goals were at an absolute premium. The opening goal falling for Jess Ronalds as she gave North Coast a slender lead at the main break.

North West kicked the only goal of the third quarter to reclaim the lead with defenders Sara Smith-Lester on debut and Faith Lewis repelling the attacks.

Into the last term Keely Owen burst out of the middle and drilled a goal with a long bomb to see North Coast hold a slender three point lead late in the term, but North West claimed the match with the decisive goal minutes from full-time.

Best on ground was Lauren French and North West gave Cassidy Ronalds the player's award.
