Women jump into Fish Tank
THE Condamine Cods are celebrating a special anniversary this year and plan on marking it with a bang this weekend.
The club has reached its 20th year since formation, and the women involved with the club are intent on letting their hair down for the occasion.
Event co-organiser Vanessa Geldard said the day draws women from across the region and is looking forward to the 2018 edition.
"We have 10 really exciting stallholders, live music and unlimited food for ticket holders,” Ms Geldard said.
"The stalls are all run by rural and regional women who have their own businesses.
"It's a celebration of the women who are involved, from the supporters, wives and players (Codettes).
"It's about saying thanks to them for making the club what it is.”
Ms Geldard said the event is the biggest on the Cods' calendar, as it combines sport with an unrivalled social atmosphere.
"That's the premise of the day; a bit of watching rugby, drinking and socialising.
"We're a tiny town with a tiny team... but I think we've got the best ladies' day in the Western Downs.”
Lisa Kennedy Collections is sponsoring the marquee for the day. Tickets are available at the door for $20 and include a drink. The event begins at 12pm Saturday at the Fish Tank.
