Woman killed in Tyndale crash

THE state’s roads have claimed another victim after a woman was killed in a two-vechicle car crash on Saturday afternoon.

At about 5.30pm, a northbound Nissan Pintara station wagon and a southbound Toyota Hilux 4WD collided on Upper Coldstream Road, near Tyndale, about six kilometres south of the Pacific Highway.

The driver of the station wagon – a 43-year-old woman – and the other driver – a 34-year-old man – were taken by ambulance to Grafton Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger from the station wagon – believed to be a 71-year-old woman – died in the crash.

Police identified the occupants of both vehicles as coming from the Lower River, but would not release more details.

Investigations into the cause of the collision are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command and Ballina Crash Investigation Unit, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service volunteers attended the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or circumstances leading up to it, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
