Nambucca woman hit by van dies

A WOMAN has lost her life in yet another dreadful road accident on the Coffs Coast.

The Nambucca Heads 44-year-old was walking in Short Street at Nambucca Heads at 5.45pm on Friday when she was struck by a westbound mini-van.

The driver stopped and rushed to the woman’s aid and police and paramedics were also called.

However, the woman had sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Short Street was closed to all traffic for three hours while investigators conducted their inquiries.

The van driver is continuing to help police with their investigation.

Police were not releasing the woman’s name yesterday.

A report is now being prepared for the coroner.
