Woman, 17, arrested for abuse

THE Christmas spirit was in short supply in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday night when police had to break up two wild brawls.

The first happened in a park in Prince Street at 5.30pm.

When officers arrived, they were confronted by an angry youth, 17.

She allegedly yelled and screamed abuse at the officers and also threatened them.

She was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, where she was charged with intimidation, resisting police, offensive behaviour and offensive language.

The next incident happened at Marina Drive at 10.40pm and when police arrived at the scene, they saw an injured man, 53, lying on the footpath surrounded by as many as 30 people.

A woman had suffered a split lip and another man had cuts. Another fight broke out while police were there and they separated the brawling parties.

A man, 28, was fined for offensive behaviour.

If you can help with the investigations into these incidents, contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299.
