Witnesses say Coffs best venue

MORE THAN 800 Jehovah's Witnesses descended on Coffs Harbour at the weekend for a regional assembly with many saying it was the best ever on the Mid North Coast.

The assembly, held at the Coffs Harbour Racecourse, saw an attendance of 839 from Macksville through to Grafton and Maclean with the highlight being a baptism of eight people.

Newly married local couple Ryan and Hayley Berry of Coffs Harbour were two of those baptised, with Hayley saying: “It's a way of showing my appreciation to God.”

Local businesses, including motels and restaurants benefited from the event with the estimated spend thought to be in the tens of thousands.

“We would be happy to have them every weekend, their assemblies are like a great big family reunion,” events organiser for Coffs Harbour Racing Club, Simon Chladil said.

Assembly spokesman Frank Redward added: “We love having our assemblies in Coffs Harbour each year. The venue is high quality and Coffs Harbour offers wonderful facilities for visitors.”
