Witness describes what she saw the day Daniel went missing

A FORMER Palmwoods woman has described seeing a man mimicking a young boy kicking dirt near the Kiel Mountain Road overpass at Woombye the day Daniel Morcombe went missing.

"It looked to me that he was shadowing what the child was doing which is a psychology thing to gain confidence," Kaylene Densley, who now lives in Darwin, said.

Ms Densley said she saw them near a boxy darkish blue car and there was another person at the back of the car when she driving to a football presentation in Nambour just before 2pm.

"I'm not very good with cars, types etc, but it was a sedan," she said.

"There were two people standing in front of the car and one person at the back of the car.

"They were closer to the road and I thought at first somebody must have pulled over because a child was sick."

Ms Densley told Brisbane Supreme Court the boy had a red shirt and shorts but "it was a while ago so the memory's a bit hazy".

She said the man with the boy had a t-shirt, open flannel shirt and jeans "I think" and was aged 30s to 40s.

Ms Densley said the man at the back of the car was leaning on the front of the open back door.

She said he was a heavy set build with a balding head with grey or white hair at the back and a bulbous red nose.

"He looked down and turned around as if he did not want me to see him," she said.

Her former partner Jodie Lynch, who now lives in Melbourne, said he remembered seeing a "little fella" who "looked like the young bloke from Rosanne".

He said she looked at the man who was with him and "did stare him out".

The court has now viewed a video recording of an interview with Brett Peter Cowan, who is accused of murdering Daniel, in July, 2005, with police.
