WITH 35 tonnes of sand at their disposal, three international sculptors have shown their artistic ability in a spectacular rally-themed model.

The multi-faceted masterpiece at Park Beach Plaza has a rally car piercing through a beachscape which features a pelican and dolphin on one side and a rainforest scene and banana trees on the other.

While the sculpture was completed earlier today, it will remain on display until October 10.

Among the talented troupe who worked on the model was Jino Van Bruinessen. He helped create the 2008 Christmas sand sculpture which was also located at the Plaza.

"People have been very interested and enthusiastic," Mr Van Bruinessen said.

Mr Van Bruinessen was involved in a sand-modelling team that crafted a 22.5 metres high, 45 metres wide African tribal-themed work to appear in the 2012 Guinness Book of Records.
