Winter festival sounds like river
THE beautiful Bellinger River has inspired a one-off concert called River Songs that promises to be one of the highlights of the Bello Winter Music festival.
River Songs will feature acts performing at the Bello Winter Music festival, local musicians and invited guest performers.
Join Emily Lubitz (Tinpan Orange), Emma Donovan, Cath Cooper (The Mid North), Sara Tindley, Ash Bell (Starboard Cannons), The Wilson Pickers and many others for a unique afternoon of music exploring river themes.
River Songs is the brainchild of Mary Cannon (aka Sista Mary) who presented the hugely popular Duet Sessions at Bello Winter's summer sister festival, the Mullum Music Festival, where different festival artists are paired together for one-off performances.
"Collaborations between artists at the festival are big part of what makes Mullum Music Festival so unique," Mary said.
"We want to create the same opportunities at Bello Winter. The idea for River Songs came late one night while talking with my friend and songwriter Sara Tindley. The Bellinger River runs through the centre of the Bellinger Valley and the township, it influences everything in this uniquely beautiful area and is such a powerful symbol. I thought rivers would be a great theme for artists to come together to explore."
River Songs will feature much loved songs about rivers as well as original works by the musicians themselves including Emma Donovan who will perform a song in the Gumbaynggirr language.
Featuring the artists in solo, duets and ensembles, River Songs promises to be an unforgettable experience at this weekend's Bello Winter Music festival.
