New date set for postponed Gold Cup
9.00AM: Racing NSW has announced a catch-up day for the Carlton Mid 2016 Coffs Harbour Gold Cup to be run.
Mark Friday, December 9 in your calendar as the day to see Coffs Harbour's biggest race of the year to go ahead.
The Coffs Harbour Racing Club has announced that anybody who'd pre-purchased race entry tickets for today can take up a great offer to get another free ticket to be used on the new Gold Cup day.
7.30AM: RACING NSW stewards were left with no option but to postpone today's Carlton MID Coffs Harbour Gold Cup meeting.
With the race track receiving 117mm of rain in the space of 24 hours, there was surface water over the majority of the track making it unsafe to race.
Stewards deemed the track to be unsafe to conduct races today but club officials have said there's still plenty of action to be held trackside.
"We welcome all to still come along and enjoy the festivities of the day! The fun must go on! Gates open from 11am," the Racing Club announced on its Facebook page.
The club said the Park Beach Plaza Fashions on the Field will still be conducted from 1pm onwards and alternative arrangements have been made for those who already have tickets.
The gold coin courtesy buses will still run today from Park Ave and Park Beach Plaza from 11am and throughout the day.
Those who have a VIP or Gold Cup Lunch ticket for today will be accommodated upstairs in the club.
Racing fans who have a Carlton Beer Garden ticket will now be downstairs in the VIP lounge out of the weather with full facilities.
Members will still have access to the Members' Lounge upstairs and the general public who may or may not have admission tickets already for today will also be downstairs with bar facilities, music and big screen for any national races plus TAB and bookie facilities.
For those who've pre-purchased a race ticket but won't be getting along to the Racing Club this afternoon, you can receive a refund. These will be processed from Monday or take up the alternative of choosing to attend the four other race days held in the next 12 months.
