Wiffens tackle the mighty mountain
FAYE and Jeff Wiffen are by no means seasoned hikers but that won't stop them tackling the towering heights of Mt Kilimanjaro.
The local couple is driven by the desire to raise funds for the drought-ravaged Horn of Africa and for every metre above sea level they climb they are hoping to raise $1.
Mt Kilimanjaro, in northern Tanzania, is the highest mountain in Africa, standing 5895 metres above sea level and Mrs Wiffen said in order to reach their target they only need 590 people to donate $10.
With a mantra of "we are doing it tough but they are doing it tougher", she acknowledges our current economic climate but hopes people can make even a small donation.
You can donate by going to the fundraising page on http://www.everydayhero.com.au and searching for 'Faye Wiffen', or donations can be dropped into Coffs Physiotherapy and Backcare at 81 West High St.
