What's on across the Coffs Coast this weekend

A RELAXING day out in beautiful beachfront surrounds isn't the only reason to visit the Valla Beach Community Market Festival tomorrow.

According to market co-ordinators, visitors to the festival will also be doing their bit to help the environment.

“Rising petrol prices, the demand for fresh local produce, networking and friendship opportunities has inspired this valuable community event,” market organisers said.

Organisers said all money raised will be used to fund community projects in the village along with the protection and repairs of Valla Beach.

Approximately 30 mixed stalls of local food, arts, crafts and community groups including WIRES, Nambucca Valley Conservation, Valla Fire Brigade and Headspace Nambucca Youth will be attending.

There will be entertainment by local talent Odz and Sodz as well as a sausage sizzle and raffle.

“What started out to be a small time local affair has grown ten-fold with wonderful support from all over the valley. It will be a day to find a bargain and sit back under the trees and enjoy the good music, food and vibe,” organiser Karen Selbie said.

The market will be held at the Valla Beach Preschool. Inquiries, contact 6569 5956.

If you fancy a beachside fling but markets are not your thing, try casting a line at the Beach, Rock and Estuary Fishing Competition or the Game Fishing Competition, both held at the Deep Sea Fishing Club.

Join other keen fishermen who will be reeling them in with their eyes on the big prize.

Prizes are up for grabs all weekend with competitions being played out on the roads, fields and in stadiums all over Coffs.

High octane motor racing can be seen at the Yamaha Karting Titles and the Coffs Coast State Championship Rally, while across at the Coffs Racing Club, real horsepower will tear up the tracks at the NBN Television Community Cups Race.

If you fancy your own dash to the finish line, the Mid North Coast Cross Country will have you taking off and running through the Orara East State Forest.

Finally to round off the bumper weekend, the Glenreagh Festival promises to be a fun-filled day for the entire family with street processions, barbecues and a Gala Bush Ball.
