Wet, wet, wet

ANYONE planning a big weekend watching local sport on the Coffs Coast might need to think again about how they're going to fill in their Saturday or Sunday.

After contacting officials from the four football codes yesterday, it seems very doubtful any fixtures will go ahead tomorrow and Sunday unless the inclement weather suddenly breaks.

No-one was prepared to say for certain that matches will be called off but all admitted that matches in the Coffs Harbour region are highly unlikely to go ahead.

Mid North Coast Rugby looks like it will be least affected as the four matches scheduled for this week are in Crescent Head, South West Rocks and Port Macquarie.

In both Group 2 and AFL North Coast, Port Macquarie looks like the most likely venue for matches to go ahead.

Orara Valley is set to play the Sharks in league while in AFL, North Coffs are preparing to travel down the Pacific Highway to take on the Magpies.

Lovers of the round ball game may be disappointed as North Coast Football looks like the competition that will be hardest hit this weekend.

While having grounds closed and matches unable to proceed is always a disappointment, the biggest headaches come when it is time to find another date to play the fixture.

Many teams already have games to catch up due to the floods on March 31.

Finding another date to replay matches will be a big problem for club administrators to overcome.

With the consistent rain reaching all the way up to South-East Queensland, Coffs Harbour isn't the only place where sport is being affected.

This afternoon's scheduled TAB race meeting at Grafton was called off yesterday.
