LATE afternoon rain failed to end Eli Evans and Michael Boaden's Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally campaigns with the pair cruising to victory in the 2WD and 4WD categories.

Competitors endured rain, hail and shine over the final heat of the penultimate round of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship.

The Evans brothers had a fierce battle all day  with Mazda's Simon Evans taking the Bosch 2WD ARC heat win by 17.4 sec over younger brother Eli in his works Honda Jazz G2.

Simon Evans says he enjoyed having to work for his first victory in the Mazda against younger brother Eli and couldn't have done it without the team.

"It's really good to see him as a front runner in the Australian Rally Championship," said Simon Evans.

"I'm really looking forward to battling with him again at Rally Victoria and throughout next year.

"He might have won this year, but he'll always be the little brother."

Wauchope's Michael Boaden in his Mitsubishi Evo IX conquered the slippery conditions to fulfill his dream of winning his home round.

Boaden finished 1 min 4.7sec ahead of Matt Van Tuinen in the Subaru WRX STI.

Boaden says it was a relief to wrap up the championship yesterday and it allowed him to enjoy the day's six stages.

"It was really slippery out there but great fun," said Boaden.

"The back end was out in throughout a lot of the stages so I'm glad I wasn't facing them in a front wheel drive car. That would have been a bit interesting.

"I've always wanted to win my local event and to pick the championship up in the same weekend is just a dream come true. It doesn't get any better than this."
