West Coffs duo win district pairs

WEST Coffs bowlers Stuart Hartigan and Rod Hiscock produced a brilliant display on their home green to take the district pairs title on Sunday.

Hartigan skipped his side to a comfortable 30-14 win over the highly rated Park Beach duo of Mark Menzies and Cory Daley in the 21-end final.

In the senior pairs final, Peter Woodsell and Laurie Morris proved too strong for their Park Beach counterparts Wayne Rowmbottom and Col Pritchard winning 28-16.

The final of the president's reserve pairs competition was played at Bellingen where the Coffs Ex-Services duo of Howard Thew and Peter Hocker defeated the home team Barry Waters and Steve Glyde 20-16.

All players are reminded the district fours competition will be played at Sawtell with first- and second-round matches on Sunday.

In the third round of the Mid North Coast district pennants competition, Park Beach overcame some tough opposition from Sawtell for a 4-2 win and 65-55 aggregate over the three rinks.

Alan McFayden and Greg Cridge skipped their sides to wins over Alan Carver and Cory Daley while Col Pritchard saved his side with a strong win over Graham Purvis.

In the northern grade two, the match between Coffs Ex-Services and Woolgoolga on Saturday will more than likely decide the district pennant.

Coffs disposed of Sawtell 6-0 in clinical fashion while Woolgoolga crushed Park Beach 6-0.

In the southern section, Stuarts Point and Urunga have stolen a march on their rivals with 5-1 victories in round three.

West Coffs and Coffs Ex-Services head grade three with 16 points while grade four leaders are Nambucca Heads and West Coffs.

Urunga head grade five and are in a strong position to take the district pennant.
