Weekend events in Coffs Harbour

KICK-start your weekend into action early. Join the Coffs Community Bike Ride at the City Square at 6.30am.

Early risers might also like to join the Titavators Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team, pick up a load of fresh organic supplies at Bellingen Markets, tee off at the Woolgoolga Men's Golf Competition or browse to their heart's content at the Sawtell Trash and Treasure Market.

For a softer start to the weekend, pay a visit to the Glenreagh Craft Fair and Quilt Display from 5pm Friday. Or join the Scrapbook Marathon at Woolgoolga Library from 9am Saturday. The Coffs Harbour Dolls Club also meets on Saturday, from 1pm.

Budding writers should warm up their word processors this weekend. Nambucca Writers Group and Coffs-based Nitewriters both have Saturday events starting at 2pm.

Grab a picnic rug and head to the Butterfly House for an evening of cool jazz at Twilight Musical Celebrations at 4.30pm on Saturday. Your ticket includes refreshments, too.

Shirley Barnett's pivotal play The Skin of Our Teeth continues at the Jetty Theatre all weekend (see their website for tickets and times).

Movie buffs can enjoy a screening of Terry Gilliam's 1985 classic flick Brazil at the Bowraville Theatre at 7pm on Saturday.

There's lots to choose from on the live music front this weekend. On Friday night glam throwbacks Groove Robbers take to the stage of the Coast Hotel, while John Spence provides a dose of easy listening at the Coffs Ex-Services Club. Saturday sees the Open Arms Battle of the Bands Final at the Hoey Moey and Boyz Next Door at the Ex-Services. Sunday is the country end of the weekend, with Rod Dowsett gigging at the Sawtell Hotel and Sugarfoot playing the Ex-Services.

Last but certainly not least is the Adoption Awareness Week Celebration Picnic in Bellingen on Sunday evening from 4pm. Adoptive families, friends, and anyone interested in adoption are all invited.
