Waves surge into second spot

FOOTBALL: Across The Waves believes it is playing their best football of the season in the men's Wide Bay League.

Continuing their good form in the competition they defeated fellow top four team Bingera 3-0 to move to second on the ladder.

With the team two points clear they are now on a roll with the Waves winning six of their last seven games in all competitions.

Player coach Jason De Papi said the team was starting to find its feet.

"It's definitely starting to come together for us," he said.

"We still have a couple of players out so we hope we can still get better."

In a dominant early 25 minutes, Waves scored three quick goals to control the game and get on top.

Despite a better second half from Bingera, with more possession, they couldn't create any chances to get back into the game.

Pleased with both aspects of the game, De Papi said the team did well over the 90 minutes.

"We had a couple of chances in the first half and took them," he said.

"It was good to keep them scoreless and gain a clean sheet."

With Mitch Capuzzo scoring a double for the side, De Papi singled him out as the man of the match.

The Waves will now face the third placed United Warriors next week.

With their top two chances on the line in that clash De Papi said it would be a big test for the side.
