Watmough fails in attempt to have charge reduced

NEW South Wales back-rower Anthony Watmough will miss next month's final State of Origin clash at Suncorp Stadium after failing to have a dangerous throw charge downgraded.

Watmough went before the judiciary last night following his tackle on Queensland's Nate Myles in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Maroons.

But he was unsuccessful and will be suspended for four matches.

Watmough will also miss games against the Sharks, the Roosters, the Bulldogs and West Tigers.

Meanwhile, hooker Jake Granville (pictured) has not played for the Broncos since appearances off the bench in rounds seven and eight - against the Knights and Rabbitohs.

But he will be rewarded for his patience with a starting spot against the Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium tomorrow night.
