In the final days of the election campaign, the Advocate caught up with the high-profile candidate to hear his priorities for the region, if elected on Saturday.

In the first of three videos this week, Mr Oakeshott discusses how funding for education and progression of the proposed Coffs Harbour Bypass are among his commitments.

He also responds to claims levelled by the National Party who have labelled his candidacy as "a money grab".
