WATCH: Coast filly flying under the radar
RACING: Some punters shy away from picket-fence form which is why premier trainer Stuart Kendrick's mare Banda Spice looks set to fly under the radar in Saturday's Coastline BMW Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m).
Aiming for back-to-back-to-back-to-back wins, some bookmakers have bet $14 about the 4yo who claimed a last-start win in the Provincial Series final at Eagle Farm on New Year's Eve.
Today's Listed assignment is a significant step up in grade, but Kendrick said the mare was thriving and deserved a crack at a black type win with Michael Hellyer on board.
"Probably the race she won last start was the goal this preparation but she came through it so well and she gets in light (54kg) so we decided to target this one,” he said.
"Some black type will definitely enhance her worth as a broodmare.”
Kevin Kemp's Sold For Song ($5.50) held the favourite's tag on Friday, with three other runners sharing equal second-favouritism.
Sir Moments, Jumbo Prince and unknown quantity Sky Kingdom sit on the second line of betting at $7.
Sky Kingdom is first-up in Australia for Gold Coast-based trainer Garry Newham, after a last-start win in the Prix du Prince d'Orange, a Group 3 race over 2000m at Longchamp, France.
The Coast's premier rider Damian Browne takes the sit on Sir Moments and Jim Byrne rides Jumbo Prince.

"It's really good to have these metropolitan meetings and $100,000 races at the Coast,” Kendrick said.
He will also saddle up Mrs Quigley in the Coastline BMW M 2YO Classic, where Kelso Wood's smart Snitzel colt, Snitzkraft, is a long odds-on favourite ($1.40).
"I'm really happy with her ... she had one run with no luck then trialled well with the blinkers on,” Kendrick said.
"But the job's ahead for her, Snitzkraft is very smart.”
Kendrick also has Princess Is Ready (Race 3) and Wrapped in Blue (Race 5) engaged at the meeting.
"We've got some pretty tough draws tomorrow - but if you've drawn wide this is the track to do it on,” he said.
"It's a hard day and they're all each-way chances and each need luck.”
