Warwick trainer chasing a Friday win after sixth last start
RACING: Four Warwick-trained horse have been nominated in the Warwick Turf Club TAB race meeting at Allman Park on Friday.
The race meeting has been moved from Toowoomba to Warwick because the track at Clifford Park in Toowoomba is still not ready for racing after a refurbishment of the running surface.
Warwick trainer Garry Schwenke has the equal light weight Nonchalante in race 4, the Warwick Vet Clinic Class 1 Handicap.
"I formed a syndicate of relatives and friends to buy Nonchalante from Cambooya a couple of years ago,” Schwenke said.
"The gelding isn't going too bad and was a bit unlucky last start at Ipswich where he came sixth.
"He probably prefers 1400 or 1600-metre distances and this race is only 1100 metres.”
There are two Warwick horses in the Hutchison Quarries QTIS Maiden: Out Fox' Em, trained by Garry Osborne and the Cameron Byrne-trained A Song For Grace.
Osborne has four-year-old mare Mighty Moose as a starter in the Gross Wholesale Meats Maiden Handicap.
There are 87 nominations for the seven-event card.
The first race is at 2.32pm and the last at 6.15pm. Admission is free.
The starting time for the last could make it the latest race to be run on the Allman Park track.
Gates at Allman Park open at 1pm Friday and it is expected three or four bookies will be on course and the TAB will operate in the member's area. .
Last Saturday, Warwick Turf Club committee member Bevan Ryan provided some tips for Daily News readers and finished with three wins on the day.
