WANTED: People to help with inclusive activities
ARE you passionate about inclusive activities? Do you have suggestions to make the Richmond Valley more accessible?
As part of Richmond Valley Council's ongoing commitment to closer engagement with its community, expressions of interest to join the Accessibility, Liveability and Aged Advisory Committee are being sought.
The committee will be a forum for discussion about Council's activities in the community, and opportunities to increase accessibility and inclusive activities and amenities in our area.
Both Richmond Valley Mayor Robert Mustow and Council's General Manager Vaughan Macdonald will sit on the committee.
Mr Macdonald said the advisory committee would provide a key link between the community and Council by providing advice and recommendations to help form Council's direction and policies.
He said Council was committed to ensuring the community was informed, and strongly encouraged community participation in decision making.
"Council's wish is to ensure all residents have the opportunity to participate inclusively with dignity and respect, and enjoy the facilities and opportunities our area has to offer,” Mr Macdonald said.
Proactive residents are encouraged to contact Council for an application. Applications close Wednesday February 22.
