Wanted man arrested following vehicle stop, foot pursuit

POLICE have arrested a wanted man following a vehicle stop and foot pursuit in South Grafton.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command had been searching for the 30-year-old after he allegedly escaped custody during his arrest about 12.30am on Thursday.

Warrants had previously been issued for the man for stealing offences, including the theft of a charity tin from RSL fundraisers on April 24.

Following inquiries, police stopped a car on Rushforth Rd at South Grafton just after 9.30pm Friday.

The wanted man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly ran from the car however was arrested following a short foot pursuit.

The local man was taken to Grafton Police Station where he will be charged over the outstanding warrants.
