Wallet stolen from handbag

A WOMAN had an expensive trip to the Coffs Coast Growers’ Market on Thursday.

Police said the woman withdrew $600 from a nearby ATM about 8.15am and put the money in her wallet which she then placed in her handbag.

She went to a stall to buy tomatoes but discovered her wallet was gone.

She told police she had seen a man acting suspiciously in the area.

He is described as aged in his mid 20s, about 185cm tall, with a fair complexion, clean shaven, a slim build, sandy-coloured hair, wearing a light grey t-shirt and dark grey track pants.

Elsewhere, a woman had her wallet stolen while she was looking after her young daughter in a park in Ocean Parade at Park Beach. Police said the 31-year-old left her bag on the ground to chase after her child who had run off towards the beach.

The mum returned minutes later to find the wallet was gone.

The incident happened some time between 1pm and 2pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, thieves have stolen a drum of fuel and a generator from a property on East Bank Road at Coramba. They smashed their way into a shipping container some time between 3.50pm on Wednesday and 7am on Thursday.
