Volunteers to be honoured during national celebrations

VOLUNTEERS of all ages throughout the Gladstone region have been invited to attend celebrations during National Volunteers Week from May 11 to 17.

Gladstone Regional Council's Community Advisory Service is hosting morning and afternoon tea events to thank local volunteer organisations and their members for their ongoing dedication and support.

Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers said there were thousands of volunteer workers throughout the region that ensured many essential services continued.

"I encourage all of our region's volunteers to take time to attend one of these community events in recognition of their time and efforts," Cr Sellers said.

"The celebrations are a rare opportunity for volunteer workers from all sectors to get together and enjoy some hospitality."

Morning and afternoon teas will be held at:

  • Yaralla Sports Club, Gladstone on Monday, May 11, at 10am and 4.30pm
  • Community Centre, Agnes Water on Wednesday, May 13, from 10.30am to 12pm
  • Miriam Vale Community Centre on Wednesday, May 13, from 1.30pm to 3pm

All volunteers who attend these events will go into the draw to win a Samsung Tablet.
