Veterans are on the road again

VETERANS will be driving smarter on Coffs Harbour roads next month, thanks to a special program specifically designed to help seniors hit the road safer.

The Aged Driving Course will see almost 40 veterans and veterans' wives brushing up on their driving skills, something RSL Sub Branch president Bob Payne calls 'a boon' for older drivers.

“There are 25 new rules and I bet the average man on the street doesn't even know them,” Mr Payne said.

“This course is very important for local veterans.”

Drivecraft instructor Barry Rix said he was looking forward to helping the veterans get back on the road.

“They're mostly good drivers, since they've got the life experience which gives them a much better attitude to driving,” Mr Rix said.

Call Bob on 6654 4248 for details.
