Ve vant your blood this Halloween!

IT'S vamps at the ready, fingers steady ... for a bloody good way to help this Halloween.

Residents are invited for brekkie at the Coffs Harbour Blood Donor Centre as it opens for an extra blood-donation session on Friday.

There is no need to make an appointment - just walk in for your chance to help save lives.

The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is still experiencing a critical shortage of blood and is asking for the support of people in the Coffs Harbour area to help boost supplies.

“Regular donations are vital to maintaining the supply of blood to people who rely on it to stay alive and enjoy an improved quality of life,” explained Donor Centre Manager, Dawn Weldon-Schupp including “On the Coffs Coast alone, we need at least 170 donations each week to help cancer and leukaemia patients, burns victims, expecting mothers who need operations for their unborn babies, people undergoing surgery and victims of trauma.”

The Halloween session will be held at the Coffs Harbour Blood Donor Centre at 72 Victoria St, from 7.30am to noon. A breakfast menu of raisin toast, cereal and tea and coffee is available for eligible donors alongside muffins, milkshakes, juice, biscuits, lollies and cake.

“We're hoping that the ability to donate without the need for an appointment on Halloween will encourage new and existing donors to give blood,” Dawn said.

Phone 13 14 95 or visit www.donateblood.com.au for eligibility, more information or to make an appointment.
