Academic cracks Einstein code
MODERN day scientists are one step closer to understanding Einstein’s theory of gravity as a result of groundbreaking research by a USQ academic.
Education lecturer Dr Con Lozanovski, together with academics at Belgium’s Ghent University, recently solved a special case of Einstein’s equations that may help unravel the mystery of the extremely complicated nature of General Relativity, thus making the study of the universe easier.
Several years ago Dr Lozanovski and his colleagues realised that by using complex mathematical models, theoretical pathways which acted like road maps could be built to bridge different universes.
Since then Dr Lozanovski and his team have had their research accepted by the leading international academic journal, Classical and Quantum Gravity.
Dr Lozanovski said for the scientific community the breakthrough was significant and could open up new doorways to one day solving Einstein’s theory.
“Through our mathematical modelling we have been able to discover new theoretical universes and using mathematics, travel the interconnecting pathways; much like a car going from city to city,” he said.
“Essentially we have a deeper understanding of Einstein’s theory of General Relativity, which is very exciting. Science is still trying to understand aspects of Einstein’s work but each time a new mathematical formula is found it takes us that bit closer to unlocking the secrets of the universe.
“Understanding the mathematics behind Einstein’s theory will have a significant impact on modern-day mathematics education and how students explore and view the classroom.”
