Upset on the greens

PARK Beach was considered a shoo-in to take out the Mid North Coast District fours lawns bowls titles but somebody forgot to inform host club West Coffs.

Against a hot side skipped by accomplished Cory Daley, West Coffs came from 10 shots down mid-game to hold their composure in the exciting closing ends to win 22-20.

Winning skip Ben Watson and teammates Kent Price, Barry Blight and Paul Newman were spurred on by a huge and vocal gallery as they clawed their way back

Going shot for shot, the quartets squared at 19-all on the 17th end.

West Coffs then collected one shot each at three of the four remaining ends while conceding just one shot to their gallant opponents.

It was the club's first victory at the highest district level since the 1991 competitive season.
