UPDATE: Karara vegetation fire continues to burn

A VEGETATION fire continues to burn in Karara today.

The fire, which started on Thursday, is still burning along Millmerran Rd.

QFES spokeswoman Wendy DeVries said firefighters were continuing to keep the fire within containment lines and hoping to get more water to dampen the fire's hotspots.

Ms DeVries also said a severe fire danger warning that was put out this morning is now expected to not be as serious.

"It's now not as bad as predicted," she said.

However, QFES still advises nearby residents that smoke may affect those in the area and that residents should close their doors and windows and keep medication close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.

Motorists should use caution and drive to conditions.

If you believe your property is under threat, you should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
