YAWARR Ngujawing (dance together) is the name of the high school dance troupe which performed at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus yesterday.
As part of NAIDOC celebrations, a crowd of staff and students from across the campus enjoyed a barbecue lunch before watching indigenous Australian and Samoan dancers.
Southern Cross University indigenous Australian student services officer Tyan King said NAIDOC Week was an important celebration. “It gives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders an opportunity to share our culture with the general population.”
Yesterday’s entertainment was organised by Southern Cross University with today’s line-up run by TAFE and tomorrow’s movie Bran Nue Dae planned by senior college students.
