Under-17s cricket rained out

A WET weekend in Coffs Harbour caused cancellation of the Cricket NSW under-17 Northern carnival.

North Coast won the overall tournament last year in Newcastle.

However in the qualifications series only one innings of a Twenty20 match was completed on day one before rain stopped play.

Then, around noon on day two, organisers decided there would be no possibility of matches being played due to the inclement weather and the carnival was called off.

Despite this disappointing result for the four teams involved – North Coast, Central North, Newcastle and Central Coast – selectors named a Northern NSW Country team to take on Southern this Saturday at Bradman Oval, Bowral.

From this match, the under-17 NSW Country team will be named to play against City on Sunday.

Selectors will then take the opportunity to name the State team to contest the national championships.
