Under 12s hat-trick

ON Sunday Coffs Harbour under 12s representative cricket team played Nambucca/Bellingen in the North Coast Cricket Council Final at Macksville.

In a match befitting a final between the season's two-best teams, Coffs persevered chasing down Nambucca/Bellingen's 8-184 off 50 overs, replying with 5-185 with four overs to spare.

Coffs bowling honours went to Luke Symons whose 50th over wicket maiden contributed to his final figures of 3-10 off five overs.

Aiden Statham claimed 2-27 off eight overs and Joe Stead, Chris Gilvear and Luke Corlis claimed a wicket each.

These fine bowling efforts were backed up by a solid all-round fielding performance.

Tyh Murphy was an absolute standout in covers.

Coffs Harbour's run chase always looked comfortable, with a solid start provided by openers Nathan Gett (14) and Nathan Wendt (47).

Wendt provided the backbone to the innings losing his wicket in the 40th over.

Damon Rootes contributed a fine 36, but it was man of the match, Luke Corlis' 64 off 60 balls which ultimately took the game and hopes away from Nambucca/Bellingen and secured Coffs Harbour's first Under 12s' crown since the 2005-06 season and added to the victories of Coffs Harbour's under 14 and 16 teams.
