UNDERDOG Rhys Badcock has taken out the first-ever MasterChef Professionals title.
After three intense rounds, the 29-year-old won by just two points over his fellow finalists Sarah Knights and Rhett Willis.
The laid-back chef, who splits his time between Byron Bay and Broome, takes home a $200,000 cash prize and a trip around the world to gain experience in some of the world's best kitchens alongside the world's best chefs.
Speaking to The Northern Star earlier this week, Badcock said if he won MasterChef he would take a surf trip to the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia with friends, then "buy a Kombi" and drive to Western Australia.
He also mentioned investing the rest of the prize money into a restaurant in Byron.
"It would be a different restaurant to anything else in town - lots of wicked little foods, a different menu every day, wicked drinks, and lots of local produce," he said.
The two runners up were each awarded with $10,000 cash to continue chasing their culinary dreams.
