
Ulmarra crash closes highway
THE Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter was tasked by New South Wales Ambulance Services at 7pm on Friday to a two-vehicle accident on the Pacific Highway between Ulmarra and Cowper.
A male driver, aged in his 40's, was trapped in one of the vehicles for 30 minutes before being released by SES Rescue Squad.
The male had sustained spinal and chest injuries as a result of the collision and was treated and stabilised by Ambulance NSW paramedics from Grafton and the medical team from the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter before being flown to the Lismore Base Hospital in a stable but serious condition.
The occupants of the second vehicle were treated at the scene by Ambulance NSW paramedics and transported by road to the Grafton Base Hospital in a stable condition.
The Pacific Highway was closed for approximately one hour due to the collision.
