Two house fires in Sydney

ONE man has died while another has made a narrow escape following two separate house fires in Sydney overnight.

About 6pm last night firefighters found a Goulburn home engulfed in flames and a 58-year-old man dead in the front bedroom.

A crime scene was established but preliminary investigations suggested the blaze was not deliberately lit.

In the early hours of this morning a fire broke out in a home at Homebush in Sydney's west.

A man managed to escape before the home was destroyed.

Fire investigators remain at the scene.
