Two decades to celebrate

TWO decades and countless services later, Sandy Beach Baptist Church is thriving and excited for the future.

On April 13, the Sandy Beach Baptist Church celebrated 20 years at their Morgans Rd premises, a huge milestone after building the church in 1997.

For the previous seven years the congregation met at the Sandy Beach School Hall.

It took about 18 months for the enthusiastic members to build a manse for the pastor and the church in the mid-'90s.

The solid-brick building can seat about 200 in the main hall and has an office, kitchen and additional meeting room.

A Sunday School room and Youth Shed have been added over the years.

To celebrate the anniversary, a celebratory dinner will be held at the church on April 29.

During the evening, a film will be shown including parts of the building process and the workers, some of whom are still involved in the church and its activities today.

The church meets every Sunday at 9.30am, has a Sunday School and youth group.

On Easter Sunday the service will be held at Woolgoolga Reserve at 10am. All are welcome to attend and morning tea will be provided.
