Two face court over stolen car

TWO people have appeared in court charged with breaking into a Toormina home and stealing a motor vehicle.

Police allege David Green, 21, and Colleen Fernando, 21, both of Moree, entered the Amaroo Crescent home between 1.30am and 2am today .

The pair allegedly stole a Subaru Forrester parked in the driveway.

Officers in the area came across the stolen vehicle at the Bailey Centre, Coffs Harbour, a short time later.

It’s believed the pair were filling the car with fuel at the time.

They were arrested and Fernando failed a breath test at the scene, later returning a high-range reading of 0.0150 at the Coffs Harbour Police Station.

She pleaded guilty to drink driving when she appeared in the Coffs Harbour Bail Court just hours later, but entered not guilty pleas on charges of aggravated break and enter, take/drive conveyance and goods in custody.

The court was told Fernando was in breach of bail on charges in the Moree Local Court of assaulting a police officer and offensive behaviour.

She was granted conditional bail to reappear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on February 28.

Green meanwhile, was refused bail on charges of aggravated break and enter, take/drive conveyance, goods in custody and unlicensed driving.

He was remanded in custody and is being held in Grafton Jail to reappear in court via audio visual link on March 16.
