Two toddlers revived after near-drowning incidents
TWO children are in hospital after near-drowning incidents on private properties overnight.
A 13-month-old girl remains in Lady Cilento Children's Hospital after she was pulled from a dam on a rural property at 7.43pm.
Residents at the property at Montrose, south of Chinchilla on the Western Downs, are understood to have started searching for the toddler who is believed to have wandered from the property.
The girl was found in a dam and paramedics were called.
Bystanders performed CPR on the girl who was revived and stabilised at the property before a rescue helicopter was deployed to airlift her to Brisbane.
The girl was transported in a stable condition to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital after 9pm where she remains.
Chinchilla police are investigating the incident but there are no suspicious circumstances at this stage.
In a separate incident, a girl toddler was rushed to hospital after a near-drowning at a private property at Lowood about 6.40pm.
The two-year-old girl was found in an inflatable pool at the property.
Police attended the property about 6.42pm before the child was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.
The news comes as 45 newspapers across the state demanded the Queensland Government fund compulsory, certified swim programs in primary schools.
