Trust festival comes to our place

SAWTELL will be the focus for the National Trust Heritage Festival next month.

The theme of the statewide festival is Our Place in Space in recognition of 2009 being the International Year of Astronomy.

The festival, running from April 4 to 19, will involve more than 300 events celebrating what communities value about their particular place under the Southern Cross.

Coffs Harbour City Council will host the inaugural Sawtell Heritage Walk on April 5. The event, which launches the Sawtell Heritage Walk brochure, will be a guided tour around the original settled township of Sawtell, detailing more than 30 sites which contribute to the history of the village.

The walk will begin at the Sawtell rock pool at 10.30am, and will involve the beach, stairs and some hilly terrain, so you're advised to wear a hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes.

For further information about this free event, contact the council on 6648 4657.
