Truckies laugh at highway patrol car

THERE was a bit of a mixed reaction to the news about the new highway patrol car to look out for - a brand-new Tesla Model X.

The electric vehicle purchased by Victoria's Road Policing Command is the first all-electric vehicle to be used for highway patrol duties in Australia.

Some thought it was a good idea, like Keith Morrell, who reckoned it was an "awesome bit of kit” and was glad to see the technology progression.

A few made jokes - Tony Butcher said "it must have a very long electric cord” and Noel Aird said "I bet he runs out of juice before you do”.

Quite a few drivers wondered what would happen when it did "run out of juice” though, asking how it would be able to keep up in a high-speed chase.

Warwick Stiller said we wouldn't "see much of it, it will be on the charger most of the time”.
