Bonville Golf Resort and Macauley's claim major awards
FINE dining on the Coffs Coast has again been recognised with Bonville Golf Resort and Macauley's Restaurant claiming major awards.
At the 2014 Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Northern NSW, Macauley's Restaurant was named as the winner of the Consumer Vote Award while Bonville Golf Resort was named as the Caterer of the Year.
Bonville also walked away from the awards night in Newcastle with three other awards - the best wedding caterer and the best events caterer while the Flooded Gums Restaurant was named as the best contempory Australian Restaurant.
Flooded Gums won the award ahead of Macauley's and Taste Restaurant at Sawtell.
Other Coffs Coast winners at the awards night included Emerald Beach eatery Saltwater Café and Restaurant (Best Café Restaurant) and The Tandoori Oven on the Jetty Strip (Best Indian/Sub-Continent Restaurant).
Al Fresco Restaurant and Bar at Sapphire Beach's Aqualuna Beach Resort was a nominee in the Best Restaurant in a Hotel/Motel/Resort category while JBN Café in Park Beach Plaza was nominated in the Best Coffee Shop/Tea House category.
The number of awards won by Bonville Golf Resort solidifies its reputation as one of the pre-eminent dining experiences in the region from Newcastle to the Queensland border and as far west as Tamworth.
The addition of former No.2 Oak St head chef Michael Urquhart has been a master stroke further enhancing the Golf Resort's reputation and complementing Executive Chef, Darren Ryan.
Together Ryan and Urquhart make a formidable team.
Bonville Golf Resort is now has the only restaurant on the Coffs Coast with a 'Hat' awarded by the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and is also the most awarded property in the Restaurant and Catering Awards on the North Coast.
"These new additions to our award wall highlight the importance of Bonville Golf Resort in the food and beverage industry on the North Coast," general manager Brad Daymond said.
"This is a tremendous acknowledgement of our staff for their excellence in Food and Beverage preparation, presentation and service.
